Announcement of English-speaking guided day tours to the Shirakami-Sanchi World Heritage Area and its surroundings

Tohoku Regional Forest Office will be hosting two English-speaking guided day tours for the public to the forests of the Shirakami-Sanchi World Heritage Area and its surroundings this October. The details of the tours are shown below.

Bookings are accepted via email to t_shidou@rinya.maff.go.jp, between Monday 25 August and Monday 8 September. Twenty places are available for each tour; if the number of applicants exceeds 20, participants will be selected by lot.

Fees for insurance and other incurred costs will be collected on site.

Please note that the tours are subject to cancellation in case of bad weather.

TOUR DETAILS:

TOUR 1

Date: Wednesday 22 October

Places of visit: Anmon Falls and surrounding areas in Nishimeya Village, Aomori Prefecture

Meeting place and time: JR Shin-Aomori Station at 7:20 am

Conducted by: Tsugaru-Shirakami Forest Ecosystem Conservation Center

 

TOUR 2

Date: Saturday 25 October

Places of visit: Futatsumori and Tomeyama beech forests in Happou Town, Akita Prefecture

Meeting place and time: JR Higashi-Noshiro Station at 8:00 am

Conducted by: Akita Shirakami Communication Center, Fujisato Forest Ecosystem Conservation Center
